Bear hunting in New Mexico can be one of the most intense hunts you will ever experience! The day starts before dawn as we load the pack of dogs and start rigging roads in good bear country. After the rig dogs sound off, the race begins! We follow along in the truck while keeping gps service on the dogs and when the road ends, the foot work begins. For this reason some pre-hunt conditioning is advised.
Another way we like to hunt is to free cast our hounds from horse/mule back. Using this method we are able to get into country that others might not be able to access. Our hounds are well educated in the bear woods and are a real pleasure to watch while they work. Our livestock are also well-trained and conditioned for even the most novice riders. We have had hunters come out and ride for the first time in their life and absolutely love it! Some riding background is encouraged but not necessary.
